ALLARD ENGINEERING SERVICES
~
What were they thinking?
Every once in a while I run across somthing that amazes me, for the most part these photos are to prove the assertion that "The cheapest money you can spend on a project is for engineering".  Enjoy.

The intersection of the launders and X-brace is very well done - like two intergrown crystals.  I wondered if they cut the plate out below the X-brace before or after they started up.  There were three launders like this.  The other item of interest was the launder had abrupt turns without drop boxes at the junctions and had a constant cross section along the length.  It took 4 weeks to dig this plant out.

No, this is not the same place but enjoys the same design philosophy.  This is the end of the launder that feeds slurry to three screw classifiers.  Much of the slurry made it into the classifiers with most of the coarse solids entering the first classifier.  The classifying action and dewatering were very poor.  Two sump pumps were added to handle the spillage.
