AES was retained to assist the project team with review and supervision of metallurgical testwork for a copper/zinc project in Mexico. Several processing unit operations were investigated from agglomerated leaching, milling and agitated leaching to optical ore sorting. In addition assistance with review of Pre-feasibility study preparation at an engineering company was requested.
In parallel to the pre-feasibility effort, AES was engaged to determine the economic viability of several optional process configurations. These studies consisted of preparation of conceptual flowsheets, mass balances and general arrangements. Generation of capital and operating costs to ±30% and generating a life of mine cash flow analysis allowed selection of the most promising options and identified fundamental criteria for profitiable operation.
